Folks, one of the hardest things to do in music, is make it big as a vocal quartet. There really aren’t that many that most people can name…
Of course there’s the Statler Brothers, and the Forester Sisters…
In Pop and R&B there were the Four Tops, the Chi-Lites, and the Four Seasons…
But there’s one group that is in a class all by itself. Their name is The Oak Ridge Boys and they have put together one of the longest, and most successful careers in all of country music, nevermind vocal groups! Their first incarnation was back in the 40’s as the Oak Ridge Quartet, and over time and through various members…they emerged as the Oaks that we all know and love.
The core members of the group are Duane Allen, Richard Sterban, Joe Bonsall, and William Lee Golden. And over the course of their long career, they’ve released thirty-one studio albums, and fifty-six singles! Not only that, but they’ve won two ACM Awards, four CMA Awards, and five Grammy’s!
So it was a no-brainer for us to put together a tribute show for the Oak Ridge Boys. Of course, we’ll be playing all of their hits…from “Elvira,” “The Yall Come Back Saloon,” “Bobbie Sue,” and “American Made”…if it’s an Oak Ridge Boys hit, you best believe we’ll be playing it!
You won’t want to miss it, friends. Have a great week, and we’ll see you on the radio!
